Orthodontics

Metal braces are the most widely used system of straitening teeth.
Small metal brackets are bonded to the tooth with a wire passing
through them. The wire is usually held tightly to the brackets with
small elastic o-shaped rubber bands. The rubber bands can be
metal colored (the most discreet) or colorful, depending on what
you like. Metal brackets are very strong and can withstand most
types of treatment. They tend to be the most inexpensive treatment
and can treat the most severe cases.

Metal brackets can be silver or golden. The golden brackets look a bit more "jewelry-like" and are often a popular choice with young women.

Metal brackets are very strong and can withstand most types of treatment. At first they may irritate your gums, but after a few weeks, when your cheeks get "toughened up" they are not a problem anymore. Most traditional metal braces require an elastic o-shaped rubber band, called a ligature to hold the arch wire onto the bracket. Sometimes orthodontists use metal tie wires (little wires which are twisted around the bracket) in place of elastic ligatures.

In the "old days", metal braces were not just brackets, but bands that wrapped around the entire tooth. Nowadays, people wear small metal brackets that are glued to the front of each tooth (a big improvement!) Those old-fashioned bands are usually reserved for molars or teeth with fillings that spill to the outside surface of a tooth. Metal brackets tend to be less expensive than other types of brackets. In addition, you can make them colorful with ligatures that come on a rainbow of colors.
A different type of metal bracket is called the Viazi (or Viazis) bracket, sometimes called "FastBraces." Viazi is a trademarked system of dental braces. It is also sometimes called "FastBraces. It uses triangular brackets and square wires instead of round wires used with traditional brackets. With Viazi braces the crown and root of the teeth are moved at the same time and comparatively less force is used which causes less pain. Viazi braces take around one year to straighten and align teeth. Conventional braces take around two years for the same treatment.
For those patients who want complete �obscurity,� lingual braces may be an option.
Lingual braces are applied to the inside surfaces of the teeth. Many people (especially
professionals such as lawyers, doctors and sales representatives) opt for these
�hidden� braces. It�s important to discuss this option with an orthodontist as ingual
braces are not applicable to all orthodontic problems.

Lingual braces are attached to the inside or lingual side of the teeth which makes them
completely non-visible. Lngual orthodontics particularly well-suited for adults whose
professions keep them in the public eyes.

Lingual braces are designed and fabricated using new CAD/CAM and rapid prototyping technologies. The brackets are made out of a highly durable, dental-gold alloy. The precision wires are designed and bent to your specifications using robotic technology.
PROCESS:
After you and Dr. Anshu have discussed your desired outcomes, she’ll take a precise impression of your teeth. This mold will serve as a guide from which your custom brackets and wires will be fabricated.

Your new braces will arrive approximately six weeks after Dr. Anshu took your impressions. She’ll then prepare your teeth and apply the new braces using a precise process.

Follow up requires occasional visits to Dr. Anshu for monitoring and progress appointments, until your teeth have reached the desired configuration.
WHO CAN WEAR LINGUAL BRACES
Men and women aged 13 to 60-plus are eligible for linguals. If you qualify for standard braces, you can be treated using these nearly invisible braces. Dr. Anshu can help you decide if these are the best braces for your needs.

WHO CAN WEAR LINGUAL BRACES
Lingual braces are best suited for patients aged 13 to 60-plus. If you qualify for standard braces, you can probably wear lingual braces. Dr. Anshu can help you decide if these are the best braces for your needs.
You may have heard of "speed braces." These are sometimes also referred to as
"self-ligating brackets" or "Damon Brackets.
​
Self-ligating braces are brackets that do not need the elastic bands to hold the wire to
the brackets. Instead, each bracket has a sliding door locking mechanism to hold the wire.
The brackets allow the wire to slide back and forth which means fewer adjustments and,
therefore, less appointments.
​
Instead of visiting Dr. Anshu every four weeks, as with traditional metal braces, you might only need to come every six to eight weeks. These brackets are smaller than traditional metal brackets and less food gets trapped around them when you eat.
Clear braces also known as ceramic braces are very similar to metal braces in their function. The only difference is that the brackets are tooth colored (less conspicuous than 'clear' versions). These brackets are nearly as strong as the metal counterparts and so they can treat almost all of the same cases (some exceptions exist).
Active retainers are a great solution for people who only need slight adjustments in their anterior tooth alignment. Dr. Anshu fabricates a traditional retainer that is fitted with active springs. Treatment time can be very short and the retainers can be worn all day without being very intrusive. Once treatment is completed the retainers are worn only at night to maintain your beautiful smile!
Prevention of Orthodontic Problems
When caught early, many orthodontic problems can be prevented by beginning an orthodontic treatment plan. Through our phase one interceptive program for children, we are able to guide jaw development to reduce or eliminate the need for future surgical correction or braces. We can also make room for permanent teeth and correct underbites and overbites without braces.
