Dr. Anshu Gupta, MDS (PGIMER) — Implantologist and Cosmetic Dentist
Dr. Anshu Gupta is the founder and director of Advanced Dental Care Center at #20, Sector 18-A, Chandigarh. She has practised dentistry since 1998 and earned her MDS as a gold medalist from PGIMER, Chandigarh. Her clinical work centres on two areas: replacing missing teeth with dental implants, including complex full-mouth cases, and cosmetic dentistry for patients who want to change how their smile looks. Patients across Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and Zirakpur come to her for treatment that other clinics have declined or been unable to complete.

Implant dentistry
Dr. Gupta places single implants, multiple implants and full-arch restorations. Technology used in treatment
The clinic runs in-house CBCT 3D imaging, guided implant surgery, digital smile design software and a dental laser. Having CBCT on site matters practically: implant planning, the scan and the consultation happen in one visit instead of three, which is the difference between a two-week workup and a same-day plan for patients travelling in from outside the tricity. Why a specialist for a root canal
Most root canals in India are carried out by general dentists, and for a straightforward front tooth that is often fine. The cases where specialist training changes the outcome are molars with multiple or curved canals, teeth that have already been treated once and still hurt, and situations where the alternative on the table is extraction and an implant. Saving a natural tooth is almost always cheaper and better than replacing it, and a second opinion before extraction costs you one appointment.

Research background and how it shows up in treatment
Dr. Shorey's postgraduate research was on disinfecting root canals — a comparative study of nano-magnesium oxide against sodium hypochlorite and chlorhexidine in eliminating the bacteria responsible for endodontic infection. Cleaning the canal thoroughly is what determines whether a root canal holds up over years rather than months.

She has also presented research on how the choice of rotary instrumentation system affects pain after treatment, comparing WaveOne Gold and ProTaper Gold on post-operative discomfort, and on the use of low-level laser therapy in restorative dentistry and endodontics, work that received a best poster award at the Ionica 2020 healthcare summit. Her further presentations have covered bone morphogenetic proteins in vital pulp therapy, collagen cross-linkers in dentine bonding, and the management of a large radicular cyst in the anterior mandible.

Dr. Isha Mahajan is the orthodontist at Advanced Dental Care Center. She holds an MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, completed in 2015, and has more than 400 orthodontic cases in active treatment across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. She is a certified Invisalign provider and holds a certification in lingual orthodontics, which places braces on the inside surface of the teeth where they are not visible.

Which option is right for you
Most patients arrive having already decided they want clear aligners, and for many cases that works. But aligners, lingual braces and conventional braces are not interchangeable — each handles certain tooth movements better than the others, and the honest answer depends on what your bite actually needs. Bite correction in particular, where the upper and lower jaws do not meet correctly, often needs more than aligners alone. Dr. Mahajan will tell you which approaches will genuinely work for your case, what each costs, and how long each will take, before you commit to anything. Orthodontics for children
Her postgraduate research examined dental and alveolar arch widths in normal bites compared with Class II malocclusions — the pattern where the upper teeth sit too far forward, which is the most common reason children are referred for braces. Her further study on removable myofunctional appliances covers the devices used to guide jaw growth in children while they are still growing.
The practical implication is timing. Some problems are far simpler to correct at nine or ten than at fifteen, and a first orthodontic assessment around age seven is worth booking even if no treatment follows. Younger children are seen in pediatric dentistry and referred across when the time is right.

Dr. Gourav Ahuja, MDS — Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Implantologist
Dr. Gourav Ahuja is the oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Advanced Dental Care Center, and handles the surgical side of complex implant treatment. He completed his MDS as a gold medalist at Government Dental College and Hospital, Amritsar, and holds a fellowship in oral implantology. His caseload is weighted toward cases other clinics have turned down.
Implant surgery where bone is missing
The most common reason a patient is told they cannot have implants is insufficient bone in the jaw, usually after years without teeth or following long-term denture wear. Dr. Ahuja works with the surgical techniques that make those cases treatable:

Zygomatic and pterygoid implants are not routine work. They are placed by a small number of surgeons in the region, and they are frequently the difference between a fixed set of teeth and a lifetime of removable dentures. If you have been told there is not enough bone for implants, that assessment is worth a second opinion before you accept it.
Patients with existing medical conditions
Dr. Ahuja has particular experience rehabilitating medically compromised patients with implants — people whose general health has previously ruled out surgery, or who have been advised against implant treatment because of it. He was among those who campaigned successfully for the Punjab Government to introduce reimbursement for dental implants in the government sector — among the first such provisions in a government dental setup in India, and the reason implant treatment became reachable for patients who could not otherwise have afforded it.

Wisdom teeth
Impacted wisdom teeth are the most common reason a dental patient is referred to an oral surgeon. Not every one needs removing — a wisdom tooth that has erupted fully and is cleanable can usually stay. The ones that need attention are those trapped against the tooth in front, partially erupted with gum that repeatedly swells, or associated with decay or a cyst. Assessment starts with an X-ray or, for teeth sitting close to the nerve, a CBCT scan, so the position relative to the nerve is known before surgery rather than discovered during it.
Lesions and oral cancer screening
Dr. Chopra is a member of the International Association of Oral Oncology alongside the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India. Oral cancer is among the most common cancers in India, and in this region tobacco and areca nut use make early detection a genuine issue. The guidance is simple and worth acting on: any ulcer, white or red patch, lump, or area of numbness in the mouth that has not resolved within three weeks should be examined, whether or not it hurts. Painless is not the same as harmless. Where a lesion needs investigation, it can be biopsied and referred appropriately.
