Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is an art form devoted to the enhancement of smiles. At our clinic we can craft a new, more beautiful smile for you.

1.Who benefits from cosmetic dentistry?

2.Changes possible to enhance your smile?

3.Procedures for cosmetic dentistry.

Look in the mirror - are you happy with what you see?

Here is a checklist. If you answer yes to any of the questions below,it means you can benefit from latest cosmetic dentistry:

· Do you have any stained or discolored teeth or fillings?

· Are any of your teeth crowded, overlapping, or crooked?

· Are your gums red, swollen, receded or bleeding?

· Are you missing any teeth or do you have large gaps between any of your teeth?

· Do any of your teeth have uneven shapes due to chips, fractures, or rough edges?

. Do your teeth seem out of proportion because they are uneven in length?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, it is likely that you have a dental problem that can produce a dull smile. At our clinic our dentists have the artistic and dental skills necessary to restore your teeth to produce a more pleasing smile - one that projects the image you want to communicate in your personal and professional lives.

Changes Possible to Enhance your Smie

Stains: old fillings, an injury, smoking, or some kinds of food may cause stains. Brown or gray teeth, in particular, are often a side-effect of medications taken in childhood. These stains can be easily got rid of by cosmetic dentistry procedures.

Crooked teeth: may develop during early childhood. Not having enough space to accommodate your teeth is most likely the result of your genetic heritage.

Red gums: inflamed, puffy, red gums may bleed and pull away from the edges of your teeth. Unhealthy gums are often caused by inefficient or inadequate cleaning.

Gaps: missing teeth, gum disease or teeth too small for your mouth can produce gaps between your teeth. Usually this is a genetic trait.

Rough shape: injury or daily wear and tear can cause chips and fractures. A worn, flat look may result from grinding your teeth. Odd-shaped teeth may also be a genetic trait.

Uneven length: When your teeth are uneven in length, they can look out of proportion. Teeth that are too small or too big can be a genetic problem or the result of daily wear and tear or injury.

Discolored Teeth: They will tend to stand out and the entire attention of the person speaking to you will be directed to that one tooth.

Bonding

Bonding, also known as composite bonding, is a cosmetic dentistry procedure that can be used to repair chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth. Bonding can also be used to fill in gaps between teeth, protect the root of a tooth, or as an alternative to silver amalgam fillings. Bonding takes approximately 30 minutes to one hour in a single visit to our office .

        Application of bonding resin

The composite resin is then applied, molded and smoothed to the desired shape

    Care of dental bonding

Simply follow good oral hygiene practices.

Brush at least twice a day. It is good practice to brush after eating and before bedtime.

Floss at least once to twice a day.

Rinse with fluoride rinse before bed. Swish the fluoride rinse vigorously in your mouth for at least one minute. Do not swallow any of the rinse and do not eat or drink anything for 30 minutes

    Gumline Contouring

Find a Dentist - Gum ContouringGummy smiles are a very common problem, caused by overgrowth of the gum tissue that covers the teeth.

This unsightly occurrence can be caused by a variety of things, including heredity, health conditions and even the use of many common high blood pressure medications. A gummy smile will dominate the mouth, making the teeth seem almost secondary in appearance.

Healthy and even gum lines are essential to any beautiful smile. Attractive gums complement and frame your teeth, making your smile look healthier and more attractive.

We use a laser to change the look and shape of the gums. The laser actually vaporizes unnecessary and unsightly tissue with unmatched accuracy and effectiveness. What is left in the place of the overgrown gums is a healthy-looking, well-proportioned smile.

The process takes only a few minutes for most, and there is usually very little discomfort.

Gum contouring can give you the consistent, even gumline you need for a healthy and attractive smile.

    Enamel Microabrasion

If you have white or yellow surface stain spots on your teeth, Enamel Micro Abrasion could be an option for you. Dr. Anshu can remove staining on the top enamel layer by smoothing out the enamel, and generally no numbing is needed because the treatment remains on the surface, away from the sensitive part of the tooth. This process usually takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the number of spots. We recommend whitening afterward to achieve the brightest smile.

    Enamel Microabrasion FAQ

    Q: What is microabrasion?

A: In microabrasion, dentists carefully rub a compound on the teeth to remove superficial stains and discoloration.

Q: Why are my child's teeth discolored?

A: A number of conditions can cause discoloration of permanent teeth. For example, trauma to a baby tooth, an infection around a baby tooth, and high fevers or prolonged chronic illnesses during childhood can cause discolorations. Fluoride can also cause some white or brown discolorations of teeth when a child receives a high dose over a period of time.

Some teeth have a deeper, irreversible stain or discoloration, the result of trauma, root canal therapy or medications such as tetracycline. These deep stains are not improved by microabrasion.

Q: Will microabrasion work for my child?

A: The success of microabrasion depends on a number of factors, especially the type and extent of discoloration. So, it is difficult to predict when microabrasion will remove a discoloration completely from a tooth. Pediatric dentists have learned that brown or dark stains are removed readily in most cases. White discolorations are often improved; sometimes they are totally eliminated. Other times, white discolorations are very persistent and not removed completely with microabrasion.

Some teeth have a "speckled" appearance, showing a lot of white spots all over the tooth. These teeth may be improved with microabrasion. By removing the bright white spots, the teeth will have a slightly darker, but more even, natural color.

Q: What if microabrasion doesn't work?

A: Microabrasion is a safe, minimal treatment of discolored teeth. Attempting microabrasion does not eliminate any of the alternatives for treatment. Other treatments for discolored teeth are plastic or porcelain veneers or porcelain crowns. These options are less affordable and more extensive than microabrasion because they require some tooth preparation. So, it's wise to consider microabrasion as your first choice of treatment for discolored teeth.
